I celebrated my very first Chinese New Year with a massive feast at my friend Lan's:
She's actually took a total of three days off to prepare all the food! She had my favorite, dumplings and spring rolls and I ate so much that I actually had to take a break...and then resume eating. San Diego doesn't have too many decent Chinese places that a) aren't buffet or b) horrible so this was a real treat. My favorites were the Tea Eggs, Shrimp and Pork Dumplings and the Green Onion pancakes. And the stewed pork thing. And the spring rolls. And the Veggie/Tofu thing. And the stewed chicken.
It was a good thing I parked far away last night.
She also had dessert but I was too tired (and too full) to eat anything else. Plus the 100% pure Chili Sauce stuff she had burnt most of my taste buds, so no worries. Anyhow, this is definitely a celebration I'll be taking part in again!

This is making me so hungry right now for homemade spring rolls. I have not made them in years, but your post has inspired me to do so again.
