Musica, Musica - Tiger Tiger
Last week on a tip from We Heart Music, I listened to a couple of songs from Tiger, Tiger. He's a one man band out of MN and is doing something of a "virtual US tour". Basically you were to e-mail him, tell him what state you're hailing from and bam! CD. Provided he hasn't "toured" your state already, you should be set. The website says that it's bribery, but I enjoyed the CD so much I would have quite happily paid for it.
I hadn't checked my mailbox in about a week (something about bills frightens me) and the postman hand delivered my CD with a threat for me to start checking my mail or he was going to throw it out. Due to the WTF week, I'd kind of forgotten about my "tour" and was pleasantly surprised.
I wasn't so much "rocked" as "blissfully mellowed out". "I Suppose", the song I had heard on We Heart Music is pretty much as upbeat as it gets. What I have discovered with this CD is that it's not really meant to be taken apart for "singles" or anything of the like. You really need to listen to the whole thing from track 1 to 14. This is an album that I'll listen to when I need a good chillout, and I'm looking forward to getting the other two albums that he's got listed on his site.
At first listen, I was reminded of Her Space Holiday until I realized that I wasn't irritated or annoyed by the vocals. Which is a very good thing, because Her Space Holiday is mostly about all the beeps and whistles in the background. It's interesting, but after about 2 songs I'm ready to kick something. HSH makes me violent. Tiger Tiger doesn't irritate me. Bonus. My favorites off the album are "I Suppose" "It Fits You" and "Prickly Cactus".
Have a listen, and tell me what you think. And visit his website here to see if he's "toured" your state. If not, then it'd be wise to shoot him an e-mail to get a copy. I'm taking it to work on Thursday to infiltrate Apple's canned music rig they've got there. Hope you enjoy it.
