Last Valentine's Day ended with me being in tears, humiliated and hurt. This year I'm still single (only slightly bothered by that) but I was cheered up today by the arrival of new FOOD PORN and Triple Trouble. Oh, and discounted candy from Target.
It was extremely rainy today and so after running to Target to pick up some last minute supplies for decorating cookies, I spent the rest of the day teaching Triple Trouble how to give eskimo kisses. Mucho success. There is a high cuteness quotient here, as they have just turned 6, 5, and 4 months. Here they be:
Too cute right? I've had them all since they were six weeks old and they've got lots of personality! All I have to do is say "kisses!" and you've got an eskimo kiss. The one in the middle will try to EAT YOUR FACE. Seriously =/
Then my nifty order from Amazon.com arrived, though it wasn't supposed to get her until the 19th. Using a card I got from a Vox Neighbor and one I just got from doing an Adobe survey, I treated myself to some new cookbooks I'd been coveting:
Everytime I read anything from my NorCal Foodie neighbors, I get ready to pack up and move. The farmer's markets in San Diego are mediocre at best (if someone knows of any good ones, let me know!). This is a primarily vegetarian based cookbook - seriously, there's no meat in it. However, there are some AMAZING recipes and photos in this one as well. I've already posted Heidi's 5-Minute Tomato Sauce recipe here, it's a family favorite especially in a pinch. In any case this book defines and organizes flour, grain, and oil alternatives to go from highly-processed to all natural. If I could afford to really eat this way, I'd love to. I've already got plans to try the Whole Wheat Pancakes with the Pomegranate Syrup, which is less work than it sounds. In any case, I know it'll taste good!
So that was Valentine's Day. I got to do things I liked and that's all that really matters. If you were lucky enough to have a sweetie, make sure that every day is Valentine's Day. You shouldn't have to wait for a holiday to treat each other like royalty. If you don't have a sweetie, rest assured you've got someone in San Diego who loves you!*
*That would be me. Just in case you're wondering.
Panicked and freaked about all my hair falling out post surgery, I decided to get braids in a last ditch effort to kind of save my hair. One fried turkey and $200 bucks later, I've got a set of braids that rival the original length of my hair aaaaages ago, back when it was almost waist length. Here's a tiny snapshot:
My hair has also been purple, orange and some weird color that I can't describe but is NOT found in nature. Do any of you have any hair disasters that you regret? I guess in my old age, I'm going more natural. No dyes, no weird asymmetrical cuts (see high school graduation: but my hair was FIERCE!), and no weirdo braidy, twisty things. Well, at least these braids aren't weird. They are itchy as all hell though, so I think it's time for a wash
It rained this Monday and Tuesday out here in San Diego! I remembered that I had my camera in my purse (part of an experiment to take piccies where ever I go) so I snapped a few shots. We don't see too much weather action here in San Diego, it's either so the rain was a definite surprise. The traffic that followed, was not as much fun.
I hope everyone has had a beautiful Valentines Day! My plans for this year didn't turn out quite like I'd hoped, so it was a little disappointing. Next year, I'll stick with the same formula. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
