What is the worst city you've ever been to and why?
Submitted by Soup.
Wigan. Wigan, Wigan, Wigan. Wigan.
Did I mention Wigan. GAAAAAAAAAH.
How do you feel about your birthday? Do you look forward to it and remind all your friends, or do you dread it and try to keep it a secret?
What fragrance/cologne do you put on when it's your night out?

Honey orange soap from Boot's. I always smell yummy!
What was your major or field of study in college? Did you wind up working in that field or using that degree? If not, what field have you wound up in?

I'm currently getting my Business Degree. It's a far cry from the BFA that I wanted, but it'll do.
When do you start your holiday shopping?
Black Friday. Hmm.
Las Americas and Carlsbad opened up at 12am. Kohl's 4am. Fashion Valley 5am. Target 6am. Best Buy 7am.
Mom and I woke up at 3:00am to get ready to go stand in line at Kohl's, since they had the roasters we needed for our business $20 off. $20 OFF!
We staggered into the kitchen. I fumbled with my (still broken) electric kettle to make tea. We looked at each other with bleary eyes and I said "Fuck this noise" and went back to bed. I've honestly never cursed in front of my mother.
We ended up making our way out to the shopping madness around 10am. Kohl's had lines wrapped around the entire store, and since crowds make me antsy we didn't wait around. Not to mention that they had the wrong roasters on sale. Boo.
Went to Target and the Guitar Hero III Bundle was for PS2. Boo.
So we went to Bath and Body Works and bought candles, Barnes and Noble's for new Moleskine's and Apple for iPod goodies. I won an FM Transmitter for my iPod (which sucks because San Diego has way too many radio stations) and got a $30 Showcase iPod Classic Cover for about $10. Good f'n times. I think our other discounts were pretty lame, I was in it more for the accessories than anything else.
Thanksgiving on the whole was quite nice; we invited our daycare families to have dinner with us. Jennabean enjoyed her first proper Thanksgiving; the babies had their first bites of mashed potatoes. Us grown ups watched flicks and just mellowed out. I'll follow this with a proper Thanksgiving post a bit later.
Ringtones: What's yours and how often do you change it?
Submitted by enrico.
I used to be a ringtone whore and have ringtones for everyone. Since my social circle has gotten smaller (read: non existant) everyone has the same tone. Sorry. Plus at $2.99 a pop I'd rather have my daily Venti Iced Black Tea than 30 seconds of a song. However, that may chance once I get an iPhone. Muahaha.
Anyhow, the QotD. Mark Ronson. Inversion. Ringtone. Jennabean loves when my phone rings.
Which person from your past, who you've lost touch with, do you wonder about the most?

So the family and I are wandering around Horton Plaza today and we "mysteriously" find ourselves inside a Steve and Barry's. As I'm trowling through the SJP line, Avril Lavigne's "Girlfriend" is blasting and Jenna is dancing in the middle of the store.
Then I hear a screech. Not just any screech. A real loud "CEEEEEEEEEEEEJJJJJJJJJIIIIIIIIIIIII"
I turned and looked and let loose my own banchee wail. "BEAAAAAAAAAATRIZZZZZZZZ"
I have probably thought about this girl every single day for the past two years. She was one of my very first friends when I moved back to San Diego and attended Southwest High. We had too many things in common: Vinyl, the Beatles, Anglophilia and inappropriate and non-pc jokes. Teacher's loathed and loved us. We had the mouths of sailors--professional shit talkers but we walked the walk. Thank God we had Mr. Chevalier on our side, otherwise we probably would have been expelled many times over. We went to each other's Prom's and generally did pretty much everything together. We lost touch for a bit...almost 2 years and I was really happy to bump into her today. I hope I see her again really soon.
Where is the farthest you have ever been away from home? Did you get homesick?
Submitted by Melissa.
When I was a kid, being far away from home was spending a night at a friends house. I would get horribly homesick and often make up an excuse to go home around 12am.
Twenty-some odd years later, I still get that minor twinge of being homesick. England was the farthest away I've been from my family ever. I was a little homesick on the plane and my first night in London it was all I could do to not call every 5 minutes. I mostly just missed my mom and wanted to know if she was ok. We depend on each other a lot, her and me.
After the initial bout of homesickness, I was ready to pack up and move. Home? I think I found it and now I'm more homesick than ever.
Today is Vox's first anniversary since the official launch. What's the best experience you've had on Vox in the past year?
I joined Vox mainly because I liked new things. It was mainly for curiosity's sake. In the past year (well a little more since I was a beta-tester type person) I've found the BEST ONLINE COMMUNITY EVAR. Seriously.
I've learned so much from my neighbours, from reading their own experiences and their comments on mine. I've met some great people -- most of which have become l
ikefamily. This sheltered little girl appreciates everything that Vox is and is becoming. "No man is an island" -- Vox makes sure of that. It's a true interactive community and after going through DeadJournal, GreatestJournal, Xanga, and LiveJournal -- well, Vox has everything I need.
So here's to Vox, a spectacular community filled with spectacular people. Here's to many more years filled with QoTD, Vox Hunts and more mp3 posties from neighbors!
If you're not a member of Vox-- WTF you waiting for?!
Radiohead release their seventh studio album today and it's only available online and you set your own price. Will you buy the album? Do you buy the idea?
Yup, I bought the album. 2 Quid, plus 45p in Visa charge. I've not listened to it since the kids are still here, but I'll check it tonight. Oooh anyone up for an online listening party?
In any case, I'm always happy to purchase the music of artists that I really like. I wasn't initially going to pay for this, but after thinking about it I decided I would. I think I liked knowing that I could pay whatever I wanted versus being made to pay a ridiculous price. So I'm glad I bought it and I know I'll enjoy it =)
